How to Avoid Mercury in Your Child’s Vaccines

The choice to vaccinate your child or not is a personal one. Some will avoid vaccines all together and others feel that they want to pursue vaccinations for their children but want to minimize the risk and effects of vaccines.

If you decide to vaccinate I feel there are a couple of important things that you can do in order to minimize the risk of autism and reactions for your child.  One of those ways in delaying the vaccine schedule rather than following the one that most pediatricians recommend. Here is the post link by Dr. Miller on delaying your child’s vaccination schedule.

And in this post I want to talk to you about how you might want to avoid the high mercury content found in many vaccines.

RaiseASmarterChild-healthsachoice-The information comes from a book by  Dr. David Perlmutter’s book , Raise A Smarter Child by Kindergarten. He is a board certified neurologist and founder of the Perlmutter Health Center and is the author of The Better Brain.

The book, Raise a Smarter Child by Kindergarten discusses ways that parents can help their child develop a smarter child with healthy brain through simple games, right foods, and maintaining a brain-enhancing environment in the home by eliminating common house hold toxins. This is why I love the Shaklee products and the Shaklee Get Clean Products because every home can have a non-toxic home with products that work and are cost effective.

In one chapter of this book, entitled Vaccinations: Making Intelligent Choices for Your Children. Dr. Purlmutter believes that introducing too many vaccinations at once may affect the health of your baby’s brain.

One important note for all parents that he makes in this chapter is how to avoid Thimerosal  (a form of ethyl-mercury, a known neurotoxin) as a preservative in vaccines. He thinks that the use of Thimerosol is directly related to the meteoric rise in the rate of autism. He shows that statistically since 1991 that the incidence of autism has increased 1,500 percent from one in every 2,500 children to one in every 166. Interestingly he said that in 1991 that the CDC and the FDA recommended giving three additional vaccines (all which contained thimerosal) to extremely young infants, often in the first month of life.

After studying this controversy extensively, Dr. Purlmutter says there is a relationship between the thimerosal in vaccines given to infants and very young children and the surge in case of autism in our country. So if you have decided to vaccinate what is the alternative? It is avoiding thimerosol.

HOW TO AVOID THE MERCURY IN VACCINES IF YOU WANT TO VACCINATE YOUR CHILD?

The way you avoid the mercury in a vaccination is to request only a single dose vial of all immunizations to be used. In other words many vaccinations given have more than one in a shot, such as MMR.

If you request only one vaccination the single-dose vials do not use thimerosal as a preservative, although they still may contain trace amounts from the manufacturing process. According to the FDA guidelines, these vaccines are still considered “thimerosal-free”, and the minute amount it does contain does not pose a risk to your child’s brain. You may have to pay extra for the single-use, mercury free vaccine but he says it will well worth the extra money and time to protect your child’s brain.

Besides avoiding mercury in your child’s vaccine adding a supplement such as Shaklee’s Mighty Smart with DHA is an excellent way to give the brain the nutrients for growth.
