The Amino Acid that Can Help you Loose Pounds but Not Muscle

One of the top New Year’s resolution is to get health and sometimes added on to that resolution is loosing weight. Many gain the extra holiday 10 lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas and the pants feel a little tight.

Loosing weight can be tricky. Most diets simply cut calories but do not take into account the important ingredients for maintaining muscle. The majority of diets people loose muscle as they loose pounds. So instead of looking like a fat pear they look like a skinny pear when they loose a couple of pounds.

There is one amino acid that can help you burn fat and yet retain your muscle. The amino acid is called leucine. Leucine’s has an even more impressive effect on long-term weight loss. According to research at the University of Illinois, leucine stimulates the body to burn subcutaneous fat in order to build toned, trim muscle tissue. (And most of us need that!)

And of course a real bonus to building muscle tissue is that one pound of muscle burns 25 times more calories than one pound of ugly fat! That means a leucine-rich diet shrinks stubborn fat pockets while building calorie –hungry muscle, making weight loss much easier.
